Statement

My main interest lies in the image as a spatial element. An object that has a real, physical extent, opposing the virtuality and the flatness of screens. In addition to the frontal surface, I consider the emphasis on and spatial significance of the side parts to be particularly important. Furthermore, I choose the materials I use based on personal attachment and experience. This connects my visual experiences gained in the past on constructionsites, art studies, and virtual worlds. By combining the raw nature of post-war Informel and Arte Povera art with post-digital surfaces and phenomena, I satisfy my attraction to both fields. It’s as if I’m linking the material roughness of rural life with the smoothness and characterlessness of virtuality, its puffed softness.
